The majority of the text is in one language, with English / Ukrainian words and phrases slipped in as the story progresses. Having a main character who only speaks in the new language helps to build empathy and a positive attitude towards people who speak different languages.
The Fabulous Lost & Found and the Little Ukrainian Mouse is an ideal story to share with young children being introduced to English or Ukrainian for the first time. A list of the Ukrainian and English words and phrases from the story are shown at the back of the book, together with their translations.
It would be useful if the parent, teacher or caregiver reading this story had some knowledge of Ukrainian to be able to pronounce the Ukrainian words correctly, although pronunciation guides are provided for the Ukrainian words taught in the English version of the story.
