Vocabulary not the most useful
Rating:
26 March 2021  |

Am using various books to teach French to a 5 year old. This is the least useful in terms of its vocabulary. Verbs such as “gambader” et al. would be of very little use on a day to day communication basis. I wish Little Linguist could give a balanced representation of the content of the books they sell. More pictures of inside content so one could assess the appropriateness of a potential purchase. One would be able to do so in a bookshop. I previously bought 2 other books (amongst others) which I found to be written in the passé simple or past historic tense. Whilst this is typical of traditional French story-telling, it’s not a tense to bother with in the early stages, if one is concentrating on practical French that is useful in day to day life.

Little Linguist Response:

Thank you for your feedback. This book is aimed at native French children and so is not intended to have 'beginner' vocabulary as such. We only show a sample of pages on our website as per the publishers' requests but are always happy to send further details to help you choose a suitable book if you contact us before purchase.
