If you are looking for children's books in Chinese, you will need to know which language you want to buy as there are two main writing systems for Chinese: simplified and traditional. Simplified Chinese characters were introduced in the 1950s by the Chinese government in an effort to make it easier for people to learn to read and write. This system is used throughout mainland China - predominantly where Mandarin is spoken. Traditional Chinese characters are the older form of writing and are still used Hong Kong, and Macau, where Cantonese is spoken.
